We are in the process of having our blue haven pool built. We are starting plaster on Monday. It has been a great experience thus far with our project manager, Mike Jones. How much does a custom pool typically cost?
Every pool is custom, so pricing varies based on size, design, materials, features, and site conditions like drainage or elevation. Many homeowners expect a standard price, but details like decking, equipment, access, and permitting can change the total investment. That is why we start with a consultation to align expectations early and prevent surprises.
How long does it take to build a pool from start to finish?
The project runs in phases: design, permitting, then construction. Timelines depend on local permits, HOA approvals, weather, scheduling, and the complexity of your build. We set realistic expectations up front and keep you informed throughout the process.
Why do you build gunite pools instead of fiberglass?
Gunite pools are steel-reinforced concrete and built on-site, which allows far more flexibility in shape, size, depth, and features. They perform well in Gulf Coast conditions and can be resurfaced and updated over time. Fiberglass pools are pre-molded, more limited in design, and less adaptable long term.
Can a pool really fit in my backyard?
Often, yes. The main factors are setbacks, drainage, elevations, septic systems, easements, and construction access. We evaluate your property early to confirm what is possible, then design around your space and how you want to use the pool.
What’s included in your pricing, and what are common upgrades?
We build complete, functional pool projects, not just the shell. Upgrades typically relate to materials and finishes (tile, coping, decking), plus features like spas, tanning ledges, lighting, water features, heaters/chillers, and automation. Some properties also require site-specific solutions that affect scope, like longer plumbing runs or elevation and drainage work.
What are the biggest mistakes homeowners make when choosing a pool builder?
The most common mistake is comparing quotes without confirming what is included. Another is assuming timelines are the same across builders, even though permitting and construction sequencing can vary a lot. We encourage homeowners to compare process, communication, warranty support, and long-term follow-through, not just the initial price.
